Specialty MGA finance & accounting
Make the premium reconciliation handoff clearer.
For US specialty managing general agents and program administrators, the first proposed Grenvo workflow brings invoices, statement evidence, fees and open exceptions into one finance review.
Product in development. One program and one agreed cycle is a proposed evaluation scope, not an established customer engagement or available financial service.
Keep unresolved amounts visible.
A useful reconciliation explains what is still open. It does not force every row into a match.
Partial and unidentified receipts
A partial receipt leaves an invoice balance. An unidentified receipt remains unallocated until evidence supports a decision. Each needs a source reference and an investigation owner.
Fees and multi-invoice remittances
Show gross, fee and net separately. Record allocations to each invoice and retain the finance-approved rule; do not hide the difference in a balancing entry.
Duplicates, corrections and returns
Repeated or overlapping statements must not count twice. Changed rows and returns need traceable correction decisions, with original evidence preserved.
Review and accounting acceptance
Proposed matches require review. An exported report is not a posting receipt. Existing accounting owners approve, post and accept, and an acknowledgement is recorded only when supplied.
Responsibility stays explicit.
The preparer compares records and investigates discrepancies. The controller approves fee and allocation treatment. Source owners explain the exports and their completeness. The accounting owner accepts the package through existing tools.
A match does not establish source authenticity, settled funds or coverage. Grenvo’s proposed output does not replace the ledger, policy system or carrier authority.
Future / separately validated scope
A broader application-to-coverage journey.
The longer-term direction connects professional-started applications, applicant completion, underwriting requirements, offers, signatures, funding, issuance and authoritative carrier status. These are not phase-one reconciliation features.
Future role-specific participation
Any later applicant, owner, insured, professional or payer experience needs agreed access, consent and assistance rules. Carrier systems retain authority over approved content, decisions and coverage.
Claims and payment rails are later too.
Approved-claim workflows and new payment rails need their own authority, provider arrangements and acceptance criteria. Reconciling files neither adjudicates a claim nor authorizes a payout.
Start with one difficult reconciliation cycle.
Discuss one program, the files your team uses and the accounting package it needs to accept.
